Sameer Minhas’ blistering century sets up one-sided title clash
DUBAI – Pakistan Under-19 sealed a landmark victory over India Under-19 in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 final at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Sunday.
Chasing a mammoth target, India were bowled out for 156 in 26.2 overs as Pakistan registered a commanding 191-run win. The result delivered Pakistan their first outright Men’s U19 Asia Cup title and their first championship triumph since sharing the trophy with India in 2013.

Commanding total
India captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved costly as Pakistan’s top order capitalised on good batting conditions from the outset.
Put in to bat, Pakistan piled up an imposing 347 for 8 from their 50 overs, built around a magnificent innings from opener Sameer Minhas. The right-hander dominated the final, scoring 172 off 113 deliveries, an innings studded with 17 fours and nine sixes, and anchoring Pakistan’s charge from start to finish.
Pakistan made a steady beginning before Hamza Zahoor departed for 18, but Minhas found a reliable partner in Usman Khan. The pair added 92 runs for the second wicket, with Usman contributing 35 from 45 balls before being dismissed in the 17th over. The innings gained decisive momentum during a 137-run third-wicket partnership between Minhas and Ahmed Hussain, who scored 56 off 73 balls.
Minhas later combined with captain Farhan Yousaf in a brisk stand that pushed Pakistan beyond the 300 mark. Although a brief late collapse saw Pakistan lose several wickets in quick succession, late contributions from Mohammad Sayyam and Niqab Shafiq ensured the total reached 347.

For India, Deepesh Devendran led the bowling effort with figures of 3 for 83, while Henil Patel and Khilan Patel claimed two wickets each.
Pace onslaught
India’s reply never settled as Pakistan’s pace attack seized control early. Ali Raza, Mohammad Sayyam and Abdul Subhan exploited movement and bounce to rip through the top order, reducing India to 69 for 5 inside the first 11 overs. The required rate quickly became academic as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Ali Raza finished with 3 for 29, while Abdul Subhan returned impressive figures of 2 for 13. Mohammad Sayyam provided effective support as India struggled to form any meaningful partnerships. V Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre were among those dismissed cheaply, leaving the middle order under immediate pressure.
Despite brief resistance from the lower order, India were unable to stem the flow of wickets. The innings ended at 156 in 26.2 overs, confirming a comprehensive victory for Pakistan with more than half their overs unused. The margin underlined Pakistan’s dominance with both bat and ball in a final played at a brisk tempo.

Pakistan reached the final after defeating Bangladesh in the semi-finals, while India had booked their place with a win over Sri Lanka.
